Okanagan Challenge spotlight
May
9 - The Okanagan Challenge will kick off the Pacific Coast Soccer
League season this weekend with two games on the Lower Mainland. The
Challenge will take on Khalsa Sporting Club on Saturday, then will meet
Bellingham United on Sunday in Coquitlam. Each week during the PCSL
season in the Capital News, freelance reporter Drew Pihlainen will

Langley Athletic falls short in Bellingham
May 9 - Langley Athletic is still searching
for its first victory of the Pacific Coast Soccer League. The team
dropped a 3-2 decision to Bellingham United on Sunday at Bellingham’s
Civic Stadium. Braydon Gant and David Malamura scored in the defeat.

Premier Heat plays to draw with Mariners
May 8 - The Kamloops Heat women’s soccer team opened its Pacific Coast
Soccer League premier season with a 1-1 draw against the host Abbotsford
Mariners on Saturday. The Heat, which had spent the past few seasons in
the reserve division, opened the scoring, with Emily Oliver counting
from 20 yards in the 30th minute. Abbotsford fought back to tie the game

Bellingham United victorious in home debut
May 7 - The long anticipated marriage
between Bellingham and its first professional soccer club couldn't have
been received better. With temperatures in the low 60s on a bright,
sunny Sunday, May 6, it wasn't too warm to keep the estimated 1,473
people attending Bellingham United's inaugural home game from proudly
wearing their team scarves. "Oh my God, there were a lot of people
here," said forward Kellan Brown.
Co-op Reserve Women Start with a Win
May 7 - It was a tale of two halves in PCSL Women's Premier action at
Coquitlam Town Centre Stadium. The first half found the Peninsular Co-op
(Victoria Highlanders) reserves with plenty of the play showing their
strong possession game through some very good combination passing.

Bellingham takes home debut 3:2 on 85th-minute winner
May 6 - Bellingham United FC pulled out a
nervy 3-2 win to send home the 1,473 in attendance happy. The team
celebrated its first ever home game with festivities starting an hour
and a half before the first kick on May 6 against Langley Athletic FC at

Great Start To The Season For Victoria United FC
May 6 - Victoria United FC started
off the 2012 PCSL season Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Khalsa
Sporting Club at Royal Athletic Park. Both teams started off
with a possession style game plan which kept a lot of the action
in the middle of the park and not too many scoring chances at

Highlanders fall to Chilliwack
May 6 - The Mid Isle Highlanders showed
drastic improvement over their first game in the Pacific Coast Soccer
League's Reserve Division, now they have to show they can actually score
as well. The U21 men's team was shut out for the second week in a row,
this time losing 1-0 to the Chilliwack FC at Merle Logan Field in

May 17 - igh level men's soccer is on the
menu at Mcleod Athletic Park in Langley this weekend, with Langley
Athletic in action Saturday against Victoria United and Sunday afternoon

Okanagan Challenge has tough weekend but help on the way
May 15 - It was a tough start to the Pacific
Coast Soccer League season for the Okanagan Challenge on the weekend,
but help is on the way in the form of two stand-out defenders. The
Challenge opened its PCSL season on the coast, dropping a 5-2 decision
on Saturday to Khalsa Sporting Club before losing 5-0 to Bellingham

Hammers Put On a Show for The Fans
May
14 - Bellingham United FC played a mothers day game in front of
over 1000 fans, and gave them quite a show. The team defeated Okanogan
Challenge 5-0 and in doing so, earned the first shut out of the year. “I
wanted us to come out and defend better,” said Head Coach Lance
Calloway. “We need to take care of the basics and provide cover for each
other.” The team was coming off a 3-5 defeat from Saturday May 12
against Metro-Ford Coquitlam SC.
Peninsula Co-op Women Reserves Split
May 14 - The Co-op reserves played an
excellent game in Kelowna Saturday winning 3-1 over the Okanagan FC with
goals scored by Kristen Livingstone, Sarah Lefebvre and Krista
Whittaker. After the game the team was off to Kamloops where they faced
the Kamloops Heat in very warm temperatures at Hillside Stadium.

Victoria United Reserves Stay Undefeated
May 13 - The 3rd match of the season saw the
Victoria United Reserves take control of the game from the whistle.
United controlled the play and shut down the TSS attack at all levels.
The 1st half saw United getting numerous chances on net without success
until Colin Medlar powered past the defender on the outside, cut in and
laid a ball back to Derek deGroot at the top of the 18 finishing a
clinical one time shot in the back of the net.

Peninsula Co-op Women Reserves Win
May 12 - The Peninsula Co-op Women’s Reserve
team played a very nice passing/possession game once again. All players
were able to execute Rick’s plan to perfection, keeping a good amount of
possession and creating very good scoring chances. Okanagan was able to
convert a late goal making the final 3-1.

Heat remain unbeaten early in PCSL season
May 11 - The under-21 Kamloops Heat posted a
win and a draw in Pacific Coast Soccer League men’s reserve division
play on the weekend. Kamloops (1-1-0) beat TSS Academy 5-1 in Delta on
Saturday, May 5, before drawing 1-1 with West Van FC on Sunday, May 6.

Mid Isle FC now represents whole region
May 10 - The Mid Isle FC Highlanders are
expanding their brand this season. The Pacific Coast Soccer League men’s
reserve team, formerly based in Ladysmith, plays most of its home games

LAFC falls to visiting Khalsa, edged by host Bellingham
May 10 - Langley Athletic FC's debut in the
Pacific Coast Soccer League's debut ended in with an undesirable result
May 3. LAFC fell 3-1 to Khalsa Sporting Club at McLeod Athletic Park
(MAP). The visitors' offence was led by a two-goal night from Michael
Brkich. Adriano Negri had Khalsa's other goal. Jake Jorgenson scored the
lone marker for LAFC. Sunday in Bellingham, LAFC traded goals with the
host team in front of a mammoth crowd of 1,473 fans.
