TWO GAMES, TWO WINS FOR THE KAMLOOPS HEAT U-21 WOMENS SOCCER CLUB

Kamloops, BC - Make it two wins in two starts for the Kamloops Heat U-21 Women's Soccer team. The Heat played their home opener tonite (May 23) at Hillside Stadium and shutout the defending Pacific Coast Soccer League champion Chilliwack F.C. 4-0.

"We had a strong outing," said head coach Tom McManus, who's side led 3-0 at half time.

Danielle Fauteux (forward, Kamloops, BC), had two goals in the Heat's first win of the season two weeks ago. She continued her scoring prowess putting Kamloops on the board 1-0 at the three minute mark. The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack player took a pass from Alanna Bekkering.

Late in the first half, Kamloops added two more goals. Kelli Chamberlain found the back of the net from McMaster University player Sam Whitaker (Kamloops, BC) at the 40 minute mark. Three minutes after that, Fauteux scored her second of the match. Wolfpack midfielder Bronwyn Crawford (Kamloops, BC) getting the assist.

The Heat added one more goal in the second half. Striker Heather Lloyd (Kamloops, BC, TRU) with the assist from Chamberlain.

The Heat were forced to put All Canadian defender Shannen Meyer (Kamloops, BC, TRU) in the nets. "She came up with some big stops" said McManus afterwards.

The Win gives the Heat a record of 2 and 0. Chilliwack falls to 0 and 2.

Kamloops continues their homestand with a game Sunday afternoon (230 pm) at Hillside Stadium against the Richmond S.C.
