PCSL welcomes Seattle Wolves FC to Premier Men's Division January 18, 2008 In the Fall of 2007, the Seattle Wolves FC LLC launched its first semi-professional team competing in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) Northwest Division. The PASL is an affiliated member of the United States Soccer Federation through the United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA). Now entering its 10th year, the PASL is the largest international indoor/arena soccer league in the world. The PASL currently has 52 teams in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Teams play in regional competition, and the champion of each region qualifies for the International Championships. The PASL Winter league starts the first weekend in December and ends the third weekend in March. The Wolves are currently in top position within the NW division, with 5 matches to play in the season. Now official, The Wolves will launch a second semi-professional team in the Spring of 2008, which will compete in the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL). The PCSL was established in 1908, and offers semi-professional playing opportunities for talented players from Canada and the United States who are interested in a high level of competition and the opportunity to travel the Pacific Northwest for league games and tournaments during the summer.
113 days prior to kick-off of the 78th season of the Pacific Coast Soccer League, the Seattle Wolves FC officially announce their entry into the historic competition. “This is one of the premier Semi-Pro leagues in North America”, commented Wolves’ owner, Andrew Opatkiewicz, “ and we are going to work hard to contribute positively to its long, great history of competitive play and development of players.” The news was also met with excitement throughout the Wolves’ community of players. Wolves’ forward, Mark Williams, said “We’re making progress in Seattle with the world’s greatest game and most popular sport. As a player in this club I get to be a part of that progress. I can’t really explain the excitement – it’s a very cool thing, and the PCSL is a big step towards our larger goals.” |
